Urijah “The California Kid” Faber getting cleared for WEC 46 fight with Assuncao
Urijah Faber has posted to his official Twitter account today that he is currently completing medicals in preparation for his upcoming WEC return.
Faber will face fellow featherweight contender Rafael Assuncao at WEC 46: “Varner vs. Henderson” in early 2010. A win over Assuncao would likely secure the former champ a shot at current title-holder Jose Aldo.
“The California Kid” ruled the division with powerful and creative domination for a lengthy span before running into Mike Brown in late 2008. The two re-matched in June of this year but Faber unfortunately sustained a broken hand early in the fight and once again tasted a hard-fought defeat. Fully healed and ready to dive back into the mix, the athletic fighter is sure to put on a show come January 10.
