The long-anticipated rematch between Urijah “The California Kid” Faber and Mike Brown for the featherweight title, is now official.
The title fight will be the main event of WEC 41, and will likely air via pay-per-view according to statements made by WEC brass, which we’ve reported earlier. Up until now, WEC events have been available via the great Versus network.
The big question now is whether fans of the fights on Versus will convert into PPV subscribers. TIme will tell, but the projections clearly look good for the marketing department if they are truly considering premium programming.
Faber, 22-2, has lost only to current UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin and current WEC featherweight champ Mike Brown. After rebounding from his title loss by defeating legend Jens “Lil Evil” Pulver for a second time, the man with seemingly limitless cardio will look to take back the belt he wore for so long.
Mike Brown on the other hand, is enjoying his first taste of mainstream success and will need to display the same energy and skill he took out contender Leonard Garcia with, in order to remain at the top of the 145 lbs. weight division.
