Long-time UFC lightweight Joe “Daddy” Stevenson will drop from 155 lbs. to 145 lbs. when he meets fellow ground expert Javier Vasquez. The two will collide when the world’s biggest MMA promotion hits Pittsburgh on June 26 (yet unannounced).
Following three consecutive losses and a 2-5 mark in his past seven fights, Joe Stevenson (31-13 MMA, 8-7 UFC) is dropping from lightweight to featherweight to meet Javier Vazquez (15-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC on Versus 4. – MMAJunkie.com
Stevenson has been a top contender in the lightweight division a few times throughout his career but not yet been able to capture a world title. Following his most recent loss to a strong, younger Danny Castillo this year, the drop to featherweight could provide a much-needed boost of momentum to this fan-favorite fighter.
