jon bones jonesThe UFC held their second event via the Versus network last night and one can call it a resounding success. The action, judging and overall product was an improvement on the already solid debut of UFC on Versus events back in March of this year. Light heavyweight phenom Jon Jones has made the most of headlining both times the promotion has hit the VS broadcast audience. If fans were hoping for another dominant first-round stoppage to follow up his blasting of Brandon Vera, they are surely content this morning with the ballistic beatdown “Bones” issued veteran Vladimir Matyushenko.

In the co-main slot of the evening Yushin Okami cemented his status as a top contender in the middleweight division by besting the tough-as-nails Mark Munoz via decision. Although split by the judges, it was a clear win for “Thunder” who is quite possibly in line for a title shot before too long.
