B.J. Penn will defend his lightweight title against Diego Sanchez. The two will meet in the Octagon at UFC 107 in Memphis on December 12th.
Penn vs. Sanchez will likely serve as the card’s main event, which puts formerly scheduled feature Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans in jeopardy. Jackson recently assumed the role of B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie and it’s rumored the former champ is ruled out of 107.
Penn recently returned to 155 lbs. limelight greatness after defeating Kenny Florian at UFC 101 in Philadelphia earlier this summer. Previously, he had been embarrassed in the welterweight division by a dominant Georges St. Pierre (champ).
As for Sanchez, he is on a four fight win streak but only two of them having come in the lightweight class. He’s clearly been a marketable fighter for the UFC but he’ll have a lot to prove in the showdown with Penn, being that there are many possible contenders who arguably more so deserve a crack at the belt as well.
