Two of the UFC’s bruisers are set to collide when the top MMA promotion invades Germany for the first time.
Heavyweight gatekeeper Heath Herring and undefeated sensation Cain Velasquez will likely meet in the Octagon on June 13.
UFC 99 will offer Herring his first return to action since being dominated by current champ Brock Lesnar, back in August of 2008. Cain however, has fought recently and has excellent momentum with being undefeated in his pro MMA career so far. In fact, Velasquez fought only two times outside the UFC before entering the “big leagues”.
99 is shaping up to be a blockbuster event that will gain more European fans for the UFC as they ramp-up efforts to expand globally. Now with B.J. Penn having stalled the lightweight division even longer by choosing not to defend his title against outright top contender Kenny Florian, there will likely be a star-powered main event added to this card to compliment the co-main event of Wanderlei Silva vs. Rich Franklin.
