Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and number-one contender Gray Maynard will again have to play the waiting game before squaring off in the Octagon to settle their unresolved trilogy. Both men have met twice before in the UFC, with Edgar having lost the first, and the second resulting in a thrilling yet unsatisfying draw.
A third fight was long-scheduled for UFC 130 on May 29, but two broken ribs for Edgar and a damaged knee of Maynard’s has forced the scrap to be postponed for now. While unfortunate that the two exciting 155’ers will be on the shelf for some time, fans of Rampage Jackson and Matt Hamill will be pleased to know that their match has now been moved into the main event. Also moving up on the billing is Thiago Alves and Rick Story, as they’ll now see action on the main card after having previously been slated for the prelims.
