UFC 116: “Lesnar vs. Carwin” medical suspensions issued to 11 fighters by NSAC

As one would expect from an event that had two “Fight of the Night” bouts, there have been some medical suspensions handed out to some of the fighters from this past Saturday’s UFC 116 event.

If cleared by a doctor prior to the end of suspension period, a fighter may resume training and fight in competition. The list of suspensions includes:

Krzysztof Soszynski: must have his left thumb cleared by doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18

Chris Tuchscherer: must have left ear cleared by ear, nose and throat doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18 for right cheek laceration\

Seth Petruzelli: must have right elbow strain cleared by orthopedic doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18.

Kurt Pellegrino: must have his left knee cleared with orthopedic doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Aug. 18 with no contact until Aug. 3

Ricardo Romero: must have broken left lower jaw cleared by oral, maxillary facial surgeon or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18.

Shane Carwin: suspended until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18

Dave Branch: suspended until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18

Brock Lesnar: suspended until Aug. 18 with no contact until Aug. 3 for right eyelid and left eyebrow lacerations

Yoshihiro Akiyama: suspended until Aug. 18 with no contact until Aug. 3 for “tough fight”

Stephan Bonnar: suspended until Aug. 18 with no contact until Aug. 3 for facial lacerations

Chris Leben: suspended until Aug. 3 with no contact until July 25 for “tough fight”
