Travis Lutter vs Joe Doerksen on horizon for UFC 91 - updated
(UPDATE: Found at bottom of article)
Second-chancers Travis “Serial Killer” Lutter (9-5) and Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen (40-12), will likely compete against one another at UFC 91: “Couture vs Lesnar”, according to Sherdog. The event being held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 15, is sure to be the last chance for each fighter. This being said, due to each man’s struggle to put together solid wins within the octagon.
Lutter, who won The Ultimate Fighter 4, had been released from the UFC after his loss to Rich Franklin at at UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2, and was widely unexpected to return to the organization. Surprisingly, he is back and supposedly injury-free now that his plaguing back and knee issues have been resolved. Travis has been criticized through his career with the UFC, for lack of conditioning and mostly for having missed weight before his to-be title fight with now reigning champ Anderson Silva.
Doerkson, who recently put together a win under the Vipers MMA banner, is also not without his share of setbacks. Joe has lost three of his last four fights in the UFC. It is however, important to note that Doerksen is credited with memorable wins over Chris Leben, Patrick Cote and Ed Herman.
Will this bout produce two revitalized fighters giving all they’ve got, or more of the same as we’ve seen from each? Only time will tell.

UPDATE: Lutter has announced he will NOT be fighting Joe Doerksen at UFC 91, and is still cut by the UFC. He will possibly return to the top MMA organization after racking up some wins in smaller organizations.
