lyoto machidaHey again MMA fans, I’m back and ready to throw down for tomorrow night’s light heavyweight main event showdown.  Let’s get things started with the first fight of the night, Sean Sherk vs Frank Edgar.

Pick results update: 1-4

Sherk is coming off a impressive victory over Tyson “decision” Griffin and will look to finish the fight against Edgar.  Both have good wrestling bases but I expect Sherk to dominate this fight in the first portion by out-striking Edgar, and will then go for a takedown.  Sherk will win this fight in the second round via RNC.

In the second fight, Chael Sonnen steps in on short notice against Dan Miller.  This will be Sonnen’s second fight in the UFC since the WEC was absorbed into the UFC’s roster.  I expect this fight to go back and forth with Sonnen winning via split decision.

For the third fight, Xavier Foupa-Pokam takes on Drew McFedries.  I expect XFP to control this fight from the beginning, winning via a TKO in the third round.

In the co-main event, we have the grudge match with Matt Hughes against Matt Serra.  This is 4 years in the making, so this fight will have the fireworks for the fans.  I believe that Hughes is past his prime and expect Serra to dominate this fight on the stand up.  Look for Hughes to go for repeated takedowns, but I think that Serra will be able to nullify those attempts and will win via TKO in the second round.

For the main event, we have the LHW champ Rashad Evans against Lyoto Machida.  This will be a battle of the unbeatens and while it could make for an exciting fight, I believe this will be a very slow-paced bout.  I think Machida will be more patient than Evans, so Evans will be the first one to initiate contact.  We have not seen how Machida would respond to being hit, because he never gets hit, so it will be interested to see if Evans does land some power shots.  I believe this fight will be cat and mouse, and think that Machida will win via KO in the fourth round.

Thanks for reading fans, and remember to check for the best in MMA!
