WEC 43: “Cerrone vs. Henderson” full fight card results

WEC 43 went down this weekend and aired via Versus in the U.S.  Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone lost his fight via unanimous decision and we saw winner Benson Henderson claim the interim lightweight title.
The victory earns “Smooth” a shot at current champ Jamie Varner. Additionally, the under card provided some nice action.

WEC General Manager Reed Harris explains postponement of “Cerrone vs. Henderson”

World Extreme Cagefighting GM Reed Harris made an appearance on MMAjunkie Radio today to lend transparency to the news of the promotion’s next event changing date and location. It seems the main reason behind postponing until October 10 is main event fighter Benson “Smooth” Henderson needing time to heal an injury in addition to the same being true for some prelim fighters. Harris mentioned WEC contacted network partner Versus and discussed a future date that mutually worked.

Possible reasoning behind moving and rescheduling WEC 43

World Extreme Cagefighting yesterday released a statement confirming their rumored decision to delay the upcoming “Cerrone vs. Henderson” event. Not only will 43 be swung from September 2 to October 10, but the scheduled location of Youngstown, Ohio is also no longer a favored spot.

WEC 43: “Cerrone vs. Henderson” rescheduled outside of Ohio, Oct. 10

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – World Extreme Cagefighting® announced today the postponement of its Sept. 2 card. An injury to main event fighter Ben Henderson forced the postponement of the event.
The entire card has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10 at a venue to be announced at a later date. The event will be broadcast live on VERSUS.
Ticket refunds for the Sept. 2 event can be obtained at the point of purchase.

WEC interim title bout made official with Cerrone vs. Henderson

With current champ Jamie Varner seemingly out indefinitely with supposed injuries, World Extreme Cagefighting has gone ahead with creating an interim belt. The two fighters who will meet in the cage for the title will be none other than recent challenger to Varner, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (10-1) and Ben “Smooth” Henderson (9-1).
A wise move by WEC to create the interim belt, as Cerrone is ready to go and Varner continually denies he is ready to return to action. With Jamie’s last fight having been back in january of this year, …
