Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has “nothing to lose” in UFC 97 Chuck Liddell fight

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua had a snoozefest with Mark Coleman back at UFC 94 in Ireland. The former PRIDE standout had a few pennies in the gas tank, at best, and took nearly all three rounds to put away an aging Coleman. The bout had all the makings of a furious grudge match, but fell a mile short.
I said after the fight that if Shogun were to show up in such condition again in his next fight, it could very well be his last in the UFC. It sounds like Rua …

GSP admits to cheating at UFC 94 (video)

In a candid interview with UFC Toronto, current Welterweight Champion George St. Pierre has admitted to cheating in his bout against current Lightweight champion BJ Penn.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has released the numbers for UFC 94: “St. Pierre vs. Penn 2” in terms of live gate attendance and sales revenue.
UFC 66, UFC 83, UFC 79, UFC 91 and UFC 71 brought in more greenbacks at the gates than 94, and was second only to UFC 83: “St. Pierre vs. Serra 2” for attendance.
Stats like this further prove that even in these rough economic times, the UFC’s quality product is valued by fans. Valued so much that, the Zuffa-owned promotion is steadily growing while …

Georges St. Pierre’s destruction of B.J. Penn beyond physical

As I’ve been saying for some time now, B.J. Penn has shown multiple signs of lacking the desire to continue on in professional MMA fighting. Training at the championship level is not something the man sees as worthwhile or enjoyable, and thus you have the evidence right in front of you in the form of last Saturday night’s fight (if you could call it that).
B.J. simply wants to do other things, outside of having to sweat in a rusty warehouse with a bunch of “bros” for weeks on end. He’s …
