Jon Fitch will no longer face Thiago Alves at UFC 107. Alves has reportedly suffered a knee injury during training and has pulled out of the recently scheduled bout.
Fitch’s original opponent was to be Ricardo Almeida and the would meet at 106, however Almeida suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw. The injury was, oddly enough, the knee. The cursed match making at this time of year leaves not many options left for the top-tier welterweight.

A heavyweight collision between contenders Frank Mir and Cheick Kongo has been confirmed for the upcoming UFC 107 event in Memphis, Tenn. The fight will likely bolt one of the men back into contention, but both are coming off recent losses at UFC 99 (Kongo to Velasquez) and 100 (Mir to Lesnar).

B.J. Penn will defend his lightweight title against Diego Sanchez. The two will meet in the Octagon at UFC 107 in Memphis on December 12th.
Penn vs. Sanchez will likely serve as the card’s main event, which puts formerly scheduled feature Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans in jeopardy. Jackson recently assumed the role of B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie and it’s rumored the former champ is ruled out of 107.

Two talented contenders in the UFC’s heavyweight division will possibly meet at 107 on December 19th in Memphis, Tennessee. Cheick Kongo (14-5-1) is reportedly in talks to face Frank Mir (12-4).
