Fool’s gold: Judges’ ignorance or favoritism incorrectly crowns Zoila Frausto as Bellator’s female champ over Megumi Fujii

I’ll be clear from the beginning of this piece. Megumi Fujii won her women’s title fight against Zoila Frausto last night at Bellator 34. For the second time in a row under the Bellator banner, Frausto clearly lost a fight that went the distance and was awarded a gift decision by judges who are either too incompetent to correctly score a mixed martial arts bout, blinded by favoritism, or a disgusting combination of both. UFC President Dana White agrees MMA judging needs vast improvement

This past Saturday brought out a great fight as Forrest Griffin took a split decision victory over opponent Tito Ortiz at UFC 106. While Ortiz fans believe he won the fight, there is just no logical way to score the bout in his favor. Griffin evaded damage with Ortiz in his guard and was the better man on the feet for 15 minutes.
While Griffin’s victory was no surprise after witnessing three rounds of the two giving it their all, a split decision with such opposing scores was indeed a shock. …
