Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pellegrino on for August 5th Fight Night

UFC lightweights Josh Neer and Kurt Pellegrino will both look to increase their rising stocks in the loaded 155 lbs. division as they plan to meet in the Octagon on August 5th.
According to MMATraining.com, both fighters have agreed to the bout and it will be finalized in the near future.
I’ve long been a fan of Pellegrino and remember well his bloody win over Thiago Tavares live, at UFC 88 in Atlanta. He also recently took out Rob Emerson in solid fashion.
Neer lost a high profile contender match with Nate Diaz …

Hermes Franca suffers torn ACL, off Fight Night 17 card

With only 12 days left before UFC Fight Night 17 set to take place, Hermes Franca has suffered a serious knee injury and is not expected to remain on the fight card. His opponent Joe Lauzon, has not been given another opponent and it is unclear if he’ll stay as the headliner, with such a time crunch.
Franca announced this injury update on The Underground martial arts forum.

Nate Diaz vs. Clay Guida slated for UFC 94 fight card

As we reported to you in October, the rumored bout between UFC lightweight contenders Nate Diaz (10-2) and Clay Guida (24-9) will be taking place in January at UFC 94.
Clay’s 4-3 in the UFC, but don’t let the record fool you. This man’s a cardio beast who consistently dominates his opponents. After a close loss to Roger Huerta, at the TUF 6 finale, Guida has since put together his first back-to-back victories in the organization he’s called home since being signed in 2006.

UFC Fight Night 17 shaping up with focus on lightweights

It’s no secret to those who know me that I’m a fan of the UFC’s ‘Fight Night’ events, which air for free on Spike TV (as opposed to pay-per-view). In addition to being able to see some great, live fights, it’s a chance for the “casual” fan to see some of the UFC’s talent which they may have not been exposed to before.
