Stevenson’s win over Diaz showcases brains ‘n’ braun game plan

Joe “Daddy” Stevenson returned to victorious form last night as he bested the always tough Nate Diaz at The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 Finale in Vegas. Through three rounds of domination, Stevenson showed himself to clearly be the stronger fighter. Kitaoka wins two gold medals at Gi Amateur BJJ & No-Gi Open Tournament 2009

Not only did Satoru Kitaoka participate in the Gi Amateur BJJ & No-Gi Open Tournament 2009 on Monday, he also managed to net gold twice.
The current SENGOKU lightweight champ took on stiff competition in the No-Gi Adult Expert -79.5kg & absolute (open-weight) division tournaments. Specifically, Kitaoka dominated the absolute division by (in order of match) guillotine choke, achilles lock and anaconda choke.
Japanese fans eagerly await the champ’s return to a title defense, as Satoru has not entered the ring since his victory over Takanori Gomi in January of this year. …

MMA 101: What is a rear naked choke?

The rear naked choke is one of the most widely seen submissions in modern mixed martial arts. Also known as “Mata Leao”, it can send the dominant fighter’s opponent to sleep, which nearly always produces a tapout when applied properly.
Despite having the word “choke” in the move’s name, it is actually a strangle-hold. Chokes cut off air supply, and strangles cut off brain blood supply. Both however, are deadly if not released in ample time for the submitted fighter to break free.
