Breaking down the UFC Fight Night 20 main card match-ups

Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard
While both fighters possess crisp boxing, Maynard has the wrestling edge while Diaz has dangerous Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I expect this to be a back and forth battle going all over the Octagon and being decided by who can outmatch who on the ground. We all saw Joe Stevenson put a clinic on Diaz with his superior wrestling so it’s up to Diaz to bait for submission attempts.

UFC Fight Night 20 “Maynard vs. Diaz” fight card set for Fairfax, VA in January

The fight card for UFC Fight Night 20 has come together nicely with a lot of fan-favorite fighters on both the main card and prelim bouts.
The event will be taking place at the GMU Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA and is to be headlined by exciting lightweight contenders Gray “Bully” Maynard and Nate Diaz. The slated line-up is as follows:

TUF 8 finalist Phillipe Nover anticipates Fall return to the Octagon

After a loss in the TUF 8 Finale to lightweight winner Efrain Escudero, Phillipe Nover’s first off-show assignment in the UFC was Kyle Bradley back at 98: “Evans vs. Machida”. Things didn’t go as planned for the fighter of Filipino heritage and the considerable amount of hype following the 155 lbs.’er around surely didn’t help numb the disappointment.

Morning MMA updates - Shamrock, Lyoto, UFC 100, Fight Night 18

In disappointing, yet not surprising news, Ken Shamrock has been banned for a year from competition due to being busted for steroids. Three types of banned substances were found in Ken’s system; 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol. He was scheduled to meet Bobby Lashley in March, however that will now be impossible. Ken’s brother Frank accused him of being a career-long user, and this recent bust lends some truth to that.

Efrain “Hecho En Mexico” Escudero won The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 8 on Saturday night as a lightweight, against Phillipe Nover. Efrain showed superior wrestling skills and was able to avoid nearly all attempts at damage Nover dished out for three rounds.
