roy nelson tufFans tonight in attendance at The Palms in Vegas saw a new TUF winner crowned as former IFL champion Roy “Big Country” Nelson was victorious over Brendan Schaub.

Nelson began to find a home for his right hand counter to Schaub’s jab and it eventually scored him a powerful knockout in the first round. The loss for Schaub is the first of his pro career and it was clear that the “L” was hard to take for cornermen Rashad Evans and Greg Jackson.

Both fighters had been part of Team Rashad on the tenth season of the UFC’s reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. Originally crafted as a vehicle to increase positive exposure and recruit fresh talent into the organization, the series had its first all-heavyweights stint this time around.

With Nelson having some of the most professional fighting experience of all TUF winners, he could be facing some of the top competition in his weight class in the near future.
