Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Brown slated for March UFC 111 event in New Jersey
Another addition to the already stellar UFC 111 fight card has been made today. Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Brown was confirmed on ESPN’s MMA Live, a show hosted by well connected source Jon Anik. The event is set to take place in Newark, New Jersey on March 27 at the Prudential Center.
Almeida is making his return to the Octagon after rehabbing a knee injury that forced him out of a previously scheduled UFC 106 fight with Jon Fitch. He is currently in possession of back-to-back wins in the 185 lbs. middleweight division however the upcoming match will be contested at 170.
Fan favorite and TUF season 7 contestant Matt Brown would enter the bout against Almeida on a three-fight win streak with a very well-rounded game that is improving under the tutelage of coaches Jorge Gurgel and Matt Hume. Most recently, Brown put on a thrilling performance against the TUF season 9 British winner James Wilks at UFC 105.
The current fight card (yet to be fully posted by UFC) is as follows:
Champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Dan Hardy (for welterweight title)
Shane Carwin vs. Frank Mir (for interim heavyweight title)
