Report: Penn vs. Edgar rematch confirmed for UFC 118 in Boston, Mass.
If you didn’t get enough of Penn vs. Edgar at UFC 112, you’re in luck. Two lightweights will meet again at UFC 118 in Boston, according to a report put out by Fighters Only.
In their fight this month held in Abu Dhabi, Edgar used his boxing footwork and takedown ability to win a unanimous decision over the man many consider to be the best lightweight ever. Fans agree that something was clearly off with Penn from the moment he walked out to the Octagon and throughout the battle. Whether something truly ailed the former champ or not is up for speculation but Penn’s kickboxing coach Valentino has said a sinus infection is to blame for sluggishness during the bout.
Regardless, the two men will clash once more when the UFC makes its Boston debut this summer. The event is rumored to be scheduled for late August and could feature Mass. resident Joe Lauzon as well.
