Once completely unheard of by many U.S. fans, Paulo Thiago took advantage of a huge opportunity in fighting former #1 welterweight contender Josh Koscheck at UFC 95 and made a name for himself by knocking the popular fighter out cold in the first round. Joe Rogan had even commented on Thiago’s total lack of fundamental striking technique, moments before the KO.
Now after gaining respect and recognition, the undefeated Brazilian will look to capitalize on another huge chance in a match with another top contender, Jon Fitch.
“He has a solid Wrestling, knows how to fight standing, is good on takedowns and knows how to fight on the ground, but we’ll do a good job to annul it. It’ll be a chess fight again.” - (from Tatame)
Fitch is no joke and is one of the toughest fighters in MMA today. Paulo will need to bring his A-game, improved striking, and his bag of Jiu Jitsu tricks to come out on top once again.
Update: the fight contracts were signed today, according to Tatame.
