Rising UFC strawweight star Paige VanZant will return to the Octagon on at UFC 191 against an opponent 15 years her elder in Alex Chambers. Both women are coming off of impressive victories against solid competition, with PVZ having toppled Felice Herrig via decision and Chambers pulling out a comeback third-round submission against Kailin Curran.
VanZant aka “12 Gauge” is one of the few fighters on her organization’s roster to have inked an individual Reebok sponsorship. Her popularity on social media, combined with her natural talents inside the cage have provided her with plenty of media spotlight early on in her young career. At just 21 years old, VanZant could grow into a top draw for the UFC if the wins keep stacking up and her marketable smile consistently hits fans’ screens.
Chambers meanwhile is a bit of a dark horse in the division. “Astro Girl” fought her way into the UFC via The Ultimate Fighter season 20. She lost against fellow TUF 20 contestant Aisling Daly at the show’s finale but has a solid 5-2 pro record and is looking to build off her recent win.
UFC 191 will take place on September 5 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, with the main card airing via Pay-Per-View and the prelims on both FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
