As we predicted on our Twitter account, MMA legend Wanderlei Silva’s (32-10-1) camp is now making it be known he is set to battle with Michael Bisping (17-2) at UFC 105 in Machester, England. Bisping’s home town will serve as host to the second UK event for UFC this year, and this (likely) main event is sure to move tickets.
Keep in mind, this bout is not yet confirmed.
Although both men are coming off losses inside the Octagon, the Brazilian and Brit are fan favorites and the timing of this bout makes more sense than the ill-received Henderson vs. Franklin rematch at 103.
While Wandy has not enjoyed many victories after arriving stateside post-PRIDE, “The Axe Murderer” has built his reputation around the word dangerous. At any time, Silva possesses the power and skill to put anyone including Bisping, to sleep. There is still time for Wanderlei to make a run at a title before retirement, but he must put together a win streak beginning with this overseas clash.
As for Bisping, he is looking to rebound after being brutally knocked out by 38 year old Dan Henderson at UFC 100. Look for Michael to take preparations for this fight very seriously and learn from his previously tentative outing.
Ladies and gentleman, this is one we should all be excited about.
