Five-time World’s Strongest Man winner Mariusz Pudzianowski (1-0) has signed a contract to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (25-6).
Pudzianowski made his professional MMA debut against Marcin Najman in December of 2009 at a KSW event in Poland where he quickly dispatched of his weaker opponent. Although he has an upcoming bout against Robert Paczków at KSW XIII, the behemoth has told Fighters Only that a contract is signed to fight Sylvia a couple weeks prior.
Sylvia comes into this fight with fan snickers and facepalms abound as he lost much of his luster in boring fights prior to his UFC release and then there was the dismantling by Fedor in Affliction – followed by a massive weight gain leading to a KO loss at the hands of and over-the-hill Ray Mercer. Although he’s back in the win column with a TKO victory against Jason RIley, Sylvia’s career is on life support and a loss to Pudzianowski could be the nail in the coffin.
