Heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Frank Mir in negotiations for UFC 107
Two talented contenders in the UFC’s heavyweight division will possibly meet at 107 on December 19th in Memphis, Tennessee. Cheick Kongo (14-5-1) is reportedly in talks to face Frank Mir (12-4).
Both men are coming off disappointing losses inside the Octagon with Mir having been TKO’d by champ Lesnar and Kongo suffering a brutal three round battering at the hands of Cain Velasquez. Although Kongo is not a fan favorite, the clash would serve well as a co-main event due to the contrast in their strong points.
Mir is a world class grappler with an evolving stand up game, while Kongo clearly prefers to keep things on the feet. With no takedown defense on the part of Cheick, Mir would be wise to focus on wrestling in an upcoming camp for this potential fight.
