Adding to the growing list stable of UFC newcomers posting solid wins, is Shannon Gugerty (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) who is apparently set to make his second appearance in the octagon against hard-hitting Spencer “The King” Fisher. Fisher, a member of Miletich Fighting Systems out of Bettendorf, Iowa, has been a mainstay in the UFC over the past three years and is certainly looking to get back into serious title contention. Now having convincingly won five out of his past seven fights, which include dominant performances against such noteables as Frankie Edgar, Sam Stout, and most recently Jeremy Stephens, a title shot is not out of sight.
It is unknown as to why Guillard supposedly is off the UFC 90 card, but it should be of little surprise to those of us who are familiar with “The Young Assassin’s” tumultuous fighting career thus far. Melvin posted several losses after a firecracker start in the UFC before leaving the organization temporarily and returning to deliver a vicious 36-second TKO to Dennis Siver at UFC 86.
