Welcome 6th Rounders, to my picks and predictions for UFC 116. “Lesnar vs. Carwin” will air Saturday night via pay-per-view beginning at 10 p.m. EDT (Spike prelims @ 9). This card features a main event featuring a champ vs. interim champ HW bout. A solid line-up calls for solid picks, right? Whether you agree or disagree, leave your thoughts by commenting.

As a lead writer here, there’s a certain responsibility for making quality peeks into the future. That being said, anything can (and does) happen in mixed martial arts. With an overall 250-164 thus far since our launch, let’s get into how I, Gray D., see the action inside the cage going down from Vegas.

*(winners are in bold)

Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin: Carwin by TKO, Round 2 - Ring rust is real and Carwin’s the better fighter
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Chris Leben: Akiyama via decision - Quick turn around will be tough for Leben
Matt Brown vs. Chris Lytle: Brown via decision - Brown will bounce back from his loss to Almeida
Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski: Soszynski by TKO, Round 3 - Bonnar seems to be past his prime
Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos: Pellegrino by submission, Round 2 - Kurt’s training is excellent
_

Brendan Schaub vs. Chris Tuchscherer: Schaub by submission, Round 1 - Schaub’s the smarter athlete
Seth Petruzelli vs. Ricardo Romero: Romero via submission, Round 2 - Romero will capitalize on debut
_

Kendall Grove vs. Goran Reljic: Reljic - Reljic via TKO, Round 2 - Grove’s head isn’t in the right place
Dave Branch vs. Gerald Harris: Harris by TKO, Round 1 - Harris earns a Spike prelims spot with this win
Forrest Petz vs. Daniel Roberts: Petz via decision - Petz grinds it out, but this is a toss-up
Jon Madsen vs. Karlos Vemola: Madsen is one-dimensional and lags

Lesnar is the man he may get beat in the future but it is not going to be this Weekend .

I agree Lesnar is a huge force (literally) to handle in the UFC HW division but Carwin’s impressive record is hard to count out. I believe Lesnar’s inexperience and long layoff will lead to his defeat on Sat. night. The best part is - we get to kick back and enjoy a whole night of fights before finding out.
