UFC matchmaker Joe Silva is pulling out all the stops for the promotion’s upcoming event in Anaheim, California on October 23. UFC 121 is tentatively scheduled to have a headlining fight between heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar and contender Cain Velasquez but an excellent supporting cast has been forming over the past couple weeks.
News comes today by way of MMAFighting.com that former light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz will face Matt Hamill in a main card fight while Sportsnet.ca says rising heavyweight star Brendan Schaub is now set to battle Gabriel Gonzaga.
With such a strong line-up forming quickly in addition to massive drawing power of Brock Lesnar, this event could be the biggest of the second half of 2010. The full, rumored card is:
Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez
Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann
Tito Ortiz vs. Matt Hamill
Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago
Brendan Schaub vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Court McGee vs. Ryan Jensen
Chris Camozzi vs. Dongi Yang
Sam Stout vs. Paul Taylor
Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor
