Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory expected at UFC 91
Rumors were flying that two welterweight young guns are set to come into the octagon blazing, as both Dustin Hazelett (11-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Tamdan McCrory (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will sqaure off at UFC 91 in November. The bout has now been widely confirmed by Hazelett’s camp. Look for agreements to be signed in the very near future and this fight to become an official part of the ever-increasingly strong 91 card.
Along with being a fantastic Joe Silva production in its own right, the scrap would join the following, rumored match-ups:
- Champion Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar (title fight)
- Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson
- Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva
- Nick Catone vs. Amir Sadollah
- Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks
- Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Hazelett is to be feared, but the same can certainly be said in regards to “The Barncat”; just ask their last several opponents. Dustin suffered a well-fought TKO loss to contender Josh Koscheck two fights ago. Not to be deterred, the Brazilian jiu jitsu lack belt stayed the course of climbing the 170lb rankings with a jaw-dropping victory over Josh Burkman at The Ultimate Fighter 7 finale, via incredible armbar.
McCrory has recently returned to action, after a 3/4 year absence to focus on his college education. After soundly defeating Luke “The Silent Assassin” Cummo at UFC 87 via unanimous decision, he’s expected to bring along his crisp striking game along with improved ground skills.
