roger huertaRoger Huerta (20-2-1) will face highly ranked UFC lightweight contender Gray “The Bully” Maynard (7-0-1) at Fight Night 19. To the average fan, this appears as a great opportunity for ESPN cover boy Huerta to get right back in the mix at 155 lbs following his loss to Kenny Florian.

What many may not be aware of though, is that the undefeated Maynard has flown under the radar and steadily climbed the ladder towards a title shot while Huerta has recently refused a contract extension.

With Roger seeking a career change from the Octagon to Hollywood and Gray potentially one win away from a title shot, there is a clear point being made in this match-up. The UFC seems to be telling Roger he must fulfill his contractual obligations if he wishes to leave the organization but the opponent served up will by no means be easy.

Maynard improves greatly with each outing in the cage and will be looking to make a point against Huerta when they meet on September 16. Whether Huerta can handle the pace after being out of action for over a year will be the biggest question leading into the clash.
