Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin rematch set as UFC 103 main event
Although it was rumored for the past several days that former UFC light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz would meet former UFC middleweight champ Rich Franklin for the promotion’s upcoming event in Dallas, it has been officially announced that “Ace” will face none other than Dan Henderson at UFC 103 on September 19.
Franklin and Henderson clashed back at UFC 93 in January of this year which resulted in a split decision victory for “Hendo”. Additionally, the win landed the former PRIDE champ the chance to coach the United States team in the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Albeit the loss Henderson handed Franklin was a tough one, Rich bounced back by defeating MMA legend Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99 in Germany. Likewise, Henderson also won recently but in more convincing fashion. His powerful right hand sent opposing TUF 9 coach Michael Bisping’s body and dreams crashing onto the Octagon canvas.
With the first fight having been a close one that the fans clearly got behind, this bout is sure to stir excitement both inside and outside of the cage.
