CHICAGO, Ill. (March 4, 2010) - An undefeated fighter from Cincinnati and a police officer from Scandinavia are the latest additions to Bellator Fighting Championships’ upcoming Season 2 lightweight tournament.
The two fighters - Janne Tulirinta (12-3) and Chad Hinton (6-0) - join Ferrid Kheder, Mike Ricci and Carey Vanier in the nationally televised tournament, which begins April 8th. The last three 155 lbs. fighters will be announced later this month.
Bellator will also conduct tournaments at 145, 170 and 185 lbs. during its second season, which will be televised on FOX …

Former PRIDE light heavyweight-middleweight champion and new Strikeforce signee Dan Henderson (32-7) has confirmed his first opponent in the promotion will be grappling ace and current middleweight champ Jake Shields (24-4-1).
Henderson most recently knocked out Michael Bisping in brutal fashion during the second round of their UFC 100 bout. He believed this to be enough to warrant a another shot at Anderson Silva’s title but Dana White and company granted the opportunity to Vitor Belfort after just one win (as opposed to Henderson’s three in a row).

Bellator Fighting Championships announced yet another major offseason addition on Thursday with the signing of undefeated featherweight William Romero.
Romero, 27, one of Canada’s most talked-about young mixed martial artists, boasts an unblemished pro MMA record of 5-0. He was recently touted by MMAcanada.net — one of that country’s top MMA news sources — as “the real deal.” His most recent fight ended by KO after just 17 seconds.

Former UFC middleweight champ Rich “Ace” Franklin tells Sportsnet.ca that he has a hernia which will be taken care of before it becomes a larger issue.
“I’m taking some time off,” he said. “I have hernia surgery scheduled next week. I have a slight tear in my upper stomach. I need to get it taken care of. Once I do that, then I’ll get back to a normal training regimen.”

Urijah Faber has posted to his official Twitter account today that he is currently completing medicals in preparation for his upcoming WEC return.
Faber will face fellow featherweight contender Rafael Assuncao at WEC 46: “Varner vs. Henderson” in early 2010. A win over Assuncao would likely secure the former champ a shot at current title-holder Jose Aldo.
