ufc fight for the troopsAfter a thrilling series of dominant performances inside the Octagon last night at Fight Night 16: “UFC Fight for the Troops” several bonuses were handed out to the following fighters.

  • Fight of the Night : Jim Miller vs. Matt Wiman
  • Submission of the Night : Steve Cantwell
  • Knockout of the Night : Josh Koscheck

Jim Miller was able to neautralize and diffuse Wiman for three rounds leading to a unanimous decision. There was a decent effort by Matt at various points through the bout, including the beginning of the second round, but ultimately Jim showed us why he came into the night with a seven fight win streak. To make it even more impressive, Miller took the fight on very, very short notice after his honeymoon.

Steven Cantwell came into last night’s fight again Razak Al-Hussan with having recently gained the status of champ in the WEC. He showed us all why’s he a capable guy both standing and on the mat. When Al-Hussan made even the slightest of mistakes, Cantwell pounced and eventually ended the fight in the first round with an elbow-shattering armbar due to his opponent refusing to tap.

To top it all off, Josh Koscheck rebounded from his hard-fought loss a mere six weeks earlier to Thiago Alves, and brutally knocked out judo player Yoshiyuki Yoshida. The KO was the best of Kos’s career, and ended the night perfectly.

I imagine Fight for the Troops did well with so much action, in raising money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
