Baroni makes UFC return against TUF 7 winner Sadollah at UFC 106
Former UFC middleweight contender Phil “NYBA” Baroni (13-11) will make his Octagon return against TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah (1-1) at UFC 106. The bout will be contested in the UFC’s stacked welterweight division.
Although not sporting a glorious pro MMA record, Baroni is an exciting fighter who has successfully made a drop to welterweight (170 lbs.) after spending much of his previous matches at 185 lbs. His three fight win streak in his new division came to an end via a loss to Joe “Diesel” Riggs at Strikeforce’s “Lawler vs. Shields” event. Phil will look to right the ship against a tough Muay Thai specialist in Amir, who also possesses submission skills.
Sadollah first came to fame after winning The Ultimate Fighter season 7 but suffered a tough loss to a powerful Johny Hendricks at UFC 101 in Philadelphia this summer. The fight was his first return to competition after a long layoff due to nagging injuries (staph, clavicle).
UFC 106 will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in November 21.
